What Was Claimed
Kayhan reported that yields on long-term US government bonds had reached their highest level in more than 2 decades.
What the Record Shows
Treasury's daily par yield curve shows the 30-year yield at 5.47% on September 24, 2026, the highest since February 13, 2002, when it was also 5.47%. The 20-year yield was 5.53% that day, the highest since June 14, 2004, when it was 5.59%. Both are the highest in more than 20 years on Treasury's own series.
The headline's word "record" refers to a multi-decade high, not an all-time high: the same series stood above 6.7% in January 2000.
